Tancredo’s Distaste for Bigotry Doesn’t Extend to Staff

Anti-Bigotry Zealot Tom Tancredo's Bigoted PAC Director

The Crazed Kung Fu-Fighting Street-Screaming Convicted Hate Criminal Ex-Tancredo Speechwriter and Current PAC Director, Marcus Epstein

Former presidential hopeful and Colorado congressperson Tancredo, has been a practical one man crusader against bigotry–fighting the appointment of female-Puerto Rican-David-Duke, Sotomayor, and that bastion of racism La Raza [which he called the “KKK without the hoods and nooses”], when he isn’t wondering aloud if Obama hates white people. Which is odd, given some of his staffing choices. As Talking Points Memo notes today, his former speechwriter and the current director of his PAC, Marcus Epstein, was arrested two years ago for attacking a woman and calling her “nigger”.

On July 7, 2007, at approximately 7:15 p.m. at Jefferson and M Street, Northwest, in Washington, D.C., defendant was walking down the street making offensive remarks when he encountered the complainant, Ms. [REDACTED], who is African-American. The defendant uttered, “Nigger,” as he delivered a karate chop to Ms. [REDACTED]’s head.

I can’t help but enjoying the guilty pleasure of such full and un self-conscious hypocrisy so well exposed. TPM also had a link to Epstein’s Facebook photo album of a trip he took to Ethiopa. The most absurd thing is that the folder is public and filled with asinine and racist commentary about Africans.

This one was my favorite:

Captioned: “There’s a picture of me being camel jockey somewhere, I need to get that up stat.”

That’s one of the more mild. Among others:

“It’s no Sistine Chapel, but you know what Samuel Johnson said about a Dog walking on it’s hind legs.”
I’m really looking forward to Tancredo’s next appearance on television.

Update: in an article from last year, on a blog almost exclusively devoted to frantic paranoia about unfair racial treatment for white people, Epstein ponders:

In one of his few moments of insight, Jonah Goldberg laid bare an implicit assumption surrounding Obama’s campaign: “Given recent events, it seems that if you’re not with the Obama program, you’re fair game for tarring as a crypto-racist.”

Well, at least you don’t have to worry about the crypto part, Marcus.
